How do i track an event?

Call window.Atlis.track("event_name", { optional: "details" }) after identify() on the same page load. Use the exact trigger name, e.g. trial_started. The email only sends if that trigger's workflow is switched on.

Why are billing events ignored?

When Stripe or Paddle is connected, Atlis ignores payment_failed, payment_recovered, subscription_cancelled, subscription_activated, plan_upgraded and plan_downgraded from the snippet, because the billing webhook already sends them. With Paddle only, plan_upgraded and plan_downgraded are still accepted.

Send events like trial_started or payment_failed so the matching workflows fire.

How events work

Call identify() first, on the same page load. track() is ignored until a user has been identified.
Use the exact trigger name, such as trial_started. The full list is in the Trigger reference.
An event only sends an email if a workflow for that trigger is switched on. Sending an event never switches a workflow on.
You can also create your own event names, lowercase with underscores. See Custom triggers.
Properties are optional extra details saved with the event.

Billing events with Stripe or Paddle

If Stripe or Paddle is connected, Atlis ignores these events from the snippet so they aren't counted twice: payment_failed, payment_recovered, subscription_cancelled, subscription_activated, plan_upgraded and plan_downgraded.

Exception: Paddle doesn't report upgrades and downgrades, so with Paddle (and no Stripe) you can still send plan_upgraded and plan_downgraded yourself.

For events that happen outside the browser, such as a nightly job or a webhook, use POST /api/v1/events. See Server API.
