What is a lifecycle email trigger?

A trigger is a user behaviour or lifecycle event that starts an automated email in Atlis. Some are time-based, like inactivity and trial expiry, checked every hour. Others are events, like a failed payment, a cancel page visit or a finished onboarding, sent from your app, your server, Stripe, Paddle or your CRM.

How it works

How does a trigger become an email?

  1. 1

    A signal happens

Time-based, sent from your app or server, or from Stripe, Paddle or your CRM.

  2. 2

Atlis matches it to a workflow

Each switched-on workflow has one trigger and up to 5 timed emails.

  3. 3

    The email sends itself

To the right person at the right moment, and follow-ups stop once they act.

01

What triggers can Atlis act on?

Time-based signals like inactivity and trial expiry, plus event-based ones like failed payments, cancellation-page visits, completed onboarding, and more — across onboarding, billing, churn, and expansion.

02

Do billing triggers require Stripe?

No. Connect Stripe or Paddle and Atlis records first payments, failed payments, recoveries and cancellations automatically; Stripe also reports upgrades and downgrades. Anything else, like switching to annual, you send from your app, the Server API or a CRM status mapping.

03

How do event-based triggers get tracked?

Time-based triggers are checked automatically every hour. Event-based ones arrive from your app via the Atlis snippet, from your server via the API, from Stripe or Paddle, or from a CRM status mapping.

04

Is this on the free plan?

Lifecycle automation is available on the free plan for up to 250 tracked users; some integrations like Stripe and Slack are on the Starter plan and up.
