Credits running low email
A credits running low email goes out when someone has used most of their credits or hit a usage threshold. Sent before they run out, it keeps their work going and turns a hard stop into a top-up or an upgrade.

Rich design
The same email, in your brand
Pick Rich instead of Simple and Atlis lays the email out in your brand color with up to two soft accents and cards filled from your own setup. Billing emails like this one stay calm and still on purpose. Shown here with a sample product, Ledgerly, and its subject: You're running low on Ledgerly credits. Built with the Atlis email editor.
When it sends in Atlis
A usage alert you set up in Stripe Billing fires (select billing.alert.triggered), or you track credits_low with {{credits_left}}. Follow-ups stop once they top up.
Tips for this email
- Send it while they still have some credits left, not after they hit zero mid-task.
- Show the choice in one line: a one-time top-up or a plan that includes more each month.
- Mention what they used the credits on, so the value is fresh in their mind.
Set it up
Send it automatically in three steps
- 1
Connect your app
Install the Atlis snippet and connect Stripe or Paddle in Settings → Integrations.
- 2
Add the Credits Running Low trigger
In Workflows, add the Credits Running Low trigger. The email below is filled in for you.
- 3
Edit and switch it on
Adjust the wording, optionally add up to 4 follow-ups, and switch the workflow on.
How is it triggered?
With Stripe, create a usage alert in Stripe Billing and select billing.alert.triggered in your webhook: Atlis sends the email with {{alert}}, {{used}} and {{threshold}}. Or send a credits_low event from your app with {{credits_left}} when someone's balance drops.
When do the follow-ups stop?
As soon as they buy credits, upgrade or start a subscription. The workflow card counts how many topped up within 14 days of the email.
Can it repeat?
Yes, each time the event arrives. If both Stripe and your app send it, the second one within a day is skipped.
