How it works

How do you use the what's new popup builder?

  1. 1

    Write the update

A title, a few lines, an optional image or GIF and a button that takes people to the feature.

  2. 2

    Match your brand

Your product name, color and logo. The preview shows the popup on a light or dark page.

  3. 3

    Paste the snippet

Add it to every page of your app. Each visitor sees the update once, the next time they open it.

What you get

Built for SaaS release announcements

The same widget Atlis customers use for their in-app updates.

  • Looks like your product

Your color on buttons and labels, your logo, your page's font, and a light or dark look that follows your page.

  • Popup or corner card

A centered popup for big launches, or a small card in the corner that doesn't interrupt.

  • Shown once per person

Remembered in each visitor's browser, with no cookies and nothing sent anywhere.

  • Phone friendly

On small screens the popup slides up from the bottom, and Esc or the close button dismiss it.

  • Accessible

A real dialog with a focus trap, labelled buttons and reduced motion when people ask for it.

  • Safe by design

Text is never treated as code, only http and https links work, and it runs inside its own shadow DOM.

Guide

How to announce a new feature so people use it

Most release notes are never read. People open your app to get a job done, not to read news, so an announcement has to be short, visual and one click away from the feature itself.

Write it in three lines

  • Title: the benefit, not the feature name. “Find any invoice in a second” beats “New search”.
  • Text: one or two sentences on what changed and why it helps.
  • Button: a link straight to the feature, so trying it takes one click.

Show, don't tell

A short GIF or screenshot of the feature in action does more than a paragraph. Keep it 16:9 and crop to the part that changed.

Don't interrupt the wrong people

New signups are still learning the basics, so a launch popup can distract them. Announce to people who already use the product, and save a bigger walkthrough for features that need one.

Check who actually tried it

An announcement worked if people used the feature, not if they saw it. Track the event your app sends when someone uses it, then follow up with the people who haven't tried it yet.

FAQ

What's new popup builder: questions and answers

01

What is a What's new popup?

A small window inside your app that tells people about a new feature the next time they log in. It's the most direct way to announce a release, because it reaches people while they're using the product instead of in a crowded inbox.

02

How do I add the popup to my app?

Copy the snippet and paste it before the closing </body> tag on every page of your app, or in your app's main layout. It loads after your page, so it never slows anything down.

03

Will every visitor see it again and again?

No. Each visitor sees the update once; it's remembered in their own browser. When you change the title or text, the snippet gets a new update id, so everyone sees the new version once.

04

Does the builder store anything?

No. Everything stays in the snippet you copy. There's no account, no tracking and no cookies.

05

Is it safe to put on my site?

Yes. Your text is shown as plain text, never as code, links must be http or https, and the popup lives in its own shadow DOM so it can't change your page's styles. It works with a strict Content Security Policy.

06

What does the free version include?

One update, in a popup or a corner card, with your name, color, logo, image and button, and a small Powered by Atlis link. Atlis Product updates adds a list of every update, a public changelog, interactive choices, questions, plan targeting and numbers on who tried each feature.

Announced it? Now see who used it.

Atlis Product updates keeps every announcement in a popup and a public changelog, then counts who actually tried each feature and emails everyone who hasn't.
