An in-app onboarding checklist that ticks itself
The Atlis onboarding checklist shows new users a short list of first steps inside your app, through the same script as product updates. Each step is done when Atlis receives its event or a visit to one of your key pages, so it ticks itself. The steps start as your activation milestones, the same ones your Not Activated email and Insights use.

How it works
How does the onboarding checklist work?
- 1
Pick 1 to 7 steps
They start as your activation milestones. Add any event your app sends or any key page, and a link to where it's done.
- 2
Choose who sees it
People in their first 7, 14 or 30 days who haven't done every step.
- 3
It shows in your app
A small button with progress opens the steps. It hides once they finish or click Hide.
What you get
What's included in Onboarding checklist
Ticks itself
A step is done the moment your app sends its event, or on another device from the daily update.
One definition of activated
The checklist, the Not Activated email and the Insights activation funnel share the same milestones.
Step-by-step results
See what share of new people did each step and how many finished, under the checklist.
Your brand
Your colors and font, light or dark to match your app, sealed off so it never breaks your page.
Works in single-page apps
The same script records visits to your key pages in React, Next.js or Vue apps that change pages without reloading.
No per-visitor cost
Steps and who should see them ride in the same cached feed as your product updates.
Use cases
How founders use it
Get new signups to their first win
Point each step at the screen where it's done, so people know exactly what to do next.
Pair it with emails
People who stall get the Not Activated email; people who finish get Onboarding Completed.
Find the step people skip
The step results show where new people drop off, so you know what to fix first.
FAQ
Onboarding checklist: questions and answers
Growth, Scale and the trial.
- It needs the product updates script in your app; there are no element-by-element tours.
- Who sees it is updated once a day; a brand-new signup sees it from the next update, or right away if your app sends their signup date.
- Progress and Hide are remembered per browser.
01How is this different from a product tour?
A tour points at buttons on your screens and breaks when your interface changes. The checklist lists goals and ticks them from events, so it keeps working as your app changes.
02Do I need to write code?
Only the product updates script line in your app. Steps tick from the events Atlis already receives. Sending a signup date with identify makes it show from someone's first visit.
03Who sees the checklist?
Signed-in people in their first 7, 14 or 30 days who haven't done every step, until they finish or hide it.
04Which plan includes it?
Growth, Scale and the 14-day trial.
